Industrial Design for China

An attractive western industrial design has become essential to seduce western consumers in markets flooded with choice. But some designers are mostly motivated by the glory of design awards, and don't care much about cost effective solutions that actually sell, because they have no incentive to do so.

Titoma's western designers work in Taiwan, in close cooperation with local engineers and tool makers. They have extensive experience in working with the local manufacturers, and tool makers and the realities of the electronics market (not even IBM is interested in a bundled mouse that costs more than US$ 2.00 to make).

Of course Titoma's industrial designers recognize the need for an attractive design, and they have won numerous awards (the one we like most is "Best of Comdex"). But by being fully aware of the tooling and manufacturing costs in Asia they are capable of making more informed judgments: when a certain design feature is valuable, and when it's just not worth the extra cost.
